Stone's love for Zuri

The way Stone loves and cares for Zuri takes my breath away.  He's got a heart so wide open and he's the kind of child that just over-flows the joy in his heart, passing it around to anyone willing to receive it.  He's so tender with Zuri.  I remember the first few days of Zuri's life and him holding her and how completely magical it was to watch them together.  A strong connection between those two, for sure.  Which is interesting, as he was the one who asked often for a baby sister; way before we ever conceived, or thought about even having another child.  Wow.  I hadn't really thought of that until now, and it blows me away putting it down here.  It makes perfect sense, and doesn't surprise me at all that it all played out just as it did... and does.

And Stone really, really, really knows how to P.L.A.Y.  (I think I could learn a thing or two about that from him -- note to self...)  So, naturally, Zuri <3 loves <3 to play with Stone.  He's taught her quite a few things already, and is so proud to claim her little cute things as "i taught her that!"  And it's true.  He really does spend a lot of time with her.  And not the kind of time that he's counting down the minutes, agonizing over how he's going to entertain this baby; but rather the kind of time that's got them both completely engaged in each other.  Simply beautiful.

She yells out for Stone dozens of time each day.  Admittedly, she has taken to calling all of her brothers 'Stone', but she most certainly knows who's who.

Stone, I love that about you so much.  I love watching you with your baby sister.  I love how easy it is for you to be with her and enjoy her and show her the things that make her light up.  It makes you light up, too.  I'm grateful to get in on some of those sparkly moments, as a silent observer.  It makes my heart full.  I'm a very lucky mama to have you.  Thanks for everything you teach me, everyday.

Paper Airplanes

Stone and John spent awhile on the floor together today, making all sorts, shapes, and sizes of paper airplanes. Then, they had to test fly them. :) The fun never ends.

I love how Stone will find something to do and then spend such a long time on that particular project. Whether it's practicing his piano, making airplanes, writing secret messages or playing with Zuri, he does it with his *whole* self and gives it his complete attention. Pretty cool. I sure do love that kid.

First Entry

I've decided to create an on-line journal/diary for each child. This will be a place for me to share stories about Stone. Stories of his thoughtfulness or his humor, and so much more. Pictures and history will be here.
